Extra Virgin Avocado Oil
Our Organic Omega oil is made up of 55% extra virgin avocado oil.
Our avocados are of the highest quality, sourced from bio-diverse farms both here in New Zealand and in Kenya. From these farms, only the best avocados are chosen to go through the extraction process.
Avocados are packed with vitamins, nutrients, and minerals. Their health benefits have been lauded for centuries, with scientific studies proving that they can help with everything from arthritis to diabetes.
All cooking oils are a mixture of fatty acids – monounsaturated, polyunsaturated and saturated –and it’s the ratio of these acids that determine whether an oil is healthful or harmful.
While high in fats, avocados have only a small percentage of trans fats, making them unique in the cooking oil family. In fact, nearly 70% of avocado oil is oleic acid, a monounsaturated omega-9 fatty acid, the type which is good for your heart.
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Our blended Omega Oil contains 40% Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
Much like avocado oil, our extra virgin olive oil is high in monounsaturated fats. These not only lower bad cholesterol, but raise the good type of cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein (HDL).
High-density lipoprotein cholesterol is considered good because it helps remove other forms of cholesterol from your bloodstream, resulting in a lower risk of heart disease and stroke.
Olive oil is also packed with antioxidants, such as vitamin E, carotenoids and phenolic compounds. Found naturally in things like fruits and vegetables, antioxidants can reduce the risk of cancer, and even slow the aging process by fighting off cell damage from free radicals.
The cultures and peoples around the Mediterranean tend to live longer than their European counterparts, suffering from fewer heart attacks, cases of dementia, and rheumatoid arthritis. The high use of olive oil in their diet is thought to play a major part in this.
Cold pressed extraction method
It was Olivado back in the year 2000 that pioneered the cold pressed extraction method, which is now used all over the world.
This method is similar to the traditional method of oil extraction, but with one key difference; the temperature.
We are very careful not to allow the temperature of the process rise above 45 degrees Celsius. This stops key nutrients from being lost due to heat, allowing the fruit to retain all its goodness.
Only by this unique extraction method can a cooking oil truly be called extra virgin.
Our delicious Organic Omega Oil
The final 5% of our omega oil is organic flaxseed oil, which is high in Omega 3, another essential fatty acid that is important for maintaining healthy cell membranes in the body.
Omega 3 and Omega 6 are known as the essential fatty acids because the human body is unable to synthesize them, and so they must be obtained from diet.
Our organic omega Oils are all natural, and contain no trans fats, additives, preservatives or artificial ingredients.
No solvents are ever used to extract the oil from the fruit, and fish oils are used making it suitable for vegans and vegetarians.
Just two teaspoons per day, with food or on its own, provide a balanced intake of the good oils and fats required for a healthy diet, and are great for your brain, eyes, and heart.
