Transform ordinary food into something special with extra virgin peanut oil

With its smooth nutty flavour, multiple health benefits, and high smoking point, peanut oil is prized in Asian and Middle-Eastern dishes and recipes.

Ideally suited for stir-frying, shallow frying, baking, and salad dressings, peanut oil is more than simply “something different”, but rather a staple cooking oil, boasting rich flavours and aromas.

Extra virgin peanut oil in cuisine

Originally from South America, the peanut is a remarkably versatile legume. It can be eaten as a snack, raw, salted, or roasted, tossed into stir-fries, or added to baked goods. Peanuts can be pureed into peanut butter, refined into an oil, or even turned into margarine. They’re often served as a garnish on noodles and stir-fries, and it’s the peanut’s unique taste which gives satay sauce it’s delicious flavour. On top of everything else, they’re even used in baking, transforming cookies and pies into something special.

High smoking point

Our extra virgin peanut oil is a high-smoking oil, which means it can cook at high temperatures where other oils will start to burn. As the name suggests, the smoking point is the moment when a cooking oil begins to give off smoke. If left alone, the temperature will increase to the point where it catches fire. This is known as the flashpoint. When you cook in an oil that’s gone past its smoke point, you’re not just giving your food a “burnt” flavour, you’re breaking down the oil’s natural fats, and this can be hazardous to your health.

The goodness of extra virgin peanut oil

Our cold-pressed extra virgin peanut oil contains no trans fats, additives, preservatives, or artificial ingredients, and preserves all the goodness of the raw peanuts, offering greater nutritional benefits than refined peanut oil. In fact, peanuts are one of the best foods available when it comes to heart health, with studies showing even a handful of them every day can cut the risk of heart disease by 50%. This is probably due to their high concentrates of monounsaturated fats, which are proven to lower the bad type of cholesterol, while at the same time raising the good type.

Antioxidants in extra virgin peanut oil

Extra virgin peanut oil contains high levels of antioxidants, which help fight off free radicals. Free radicals are dangerous molecules which float around with an unpaired electron. This electron wants to pair up with something and can attach to your cells, mutating them, which can result in illness and advance the ageing process, as well as leading to cancers forming. One of these antioxidants is Vitamin E, which has also been proven to eliminate or slow the onset of cognitive disorders like Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. In fact, 25 grams of peanuts contain 20% of our daily recommended allowance of Vitamin E.

Stroke and blood pressure

Peanuts oil contains resveratrol, a compound that interacts with various hormones that negatively affect blood vessels. By fighting these hormones, resveratrol can help lower blood pressure, reducing the risk of a heart attack. Peanuts are also high in magnesium, with a single bag per day resulting in a 9% decrease in rates of stroke, according to aa recent study published in the  BMC Medicine journal.

Extra Virgin Peanut Oil

Olivado’s extra virgin peanut oil

There are three reasons why our extra virgin peanut oil is the best on the market.

Cold-pressed

Many of the nutrients, vitamins, and antioxidants found in peanut oil are lost in the traditional extraction process, which is why we developed our cold-pressed method. In this method, the temperature remains low, meaning there is no chance for the minerals to “burn away”, allowing us to preserve all the natural goodness of raw, unroasted peanuts.

Not refined

Similarly, once we extract the oil, we don’t refine it. That’s why we can legitimately call it extra virgin! Non-refined means there are no additives, preservatives, or artificial ingredients, just the healthy, delicious peanut oil mother nature intended.

Tastes delicious

And of course, it wouldn’t be Olivado if it wasn’t for the taste. Our extra virgin peanut oil is a light golden colour, with a mild peanut flavour, adding seasoning and style to any recipe.
