Dr Nic Gill has worked with athletes from many disciplines with great success.
From the mighty All Blacks to first time Ironmen competitors, from Olympic Rowers to everyday people just looking to improve their health and lifestyle. Nic loves “Olivado” and the amazing range of extra virgin avocado oils.
A long history of excellence
Nic has been a professional Strength & Conditioning Coach for the past 16 years. During that time, he has worked as a staff wellness and fitness consultant for a number of international corporate organisations and also to a limited number of individuals who take their own health and fitness seriously.
An Associate Professor at Auckland University of Technology, he continues to study and research many areas of sports science. This allows him to constantly refine and evolve his philosophy for being fit and healthy, and staying ahead of the curve in life and in competition.
The Unbeatable All Blacks
If there’s one thing New Zealand does well, it’s rugby.
The All Blacks are not only the current world champions, but have held the number one ranking longer than all the other teams combined.
Last year the All Blacks set a new world record for most consecutive wins (18), which was broken by Ireland with their first ever win over New Zealand in 29 attempts, over a span of 111 years.
Nic was a huge part of setting that record.
Having worked with the All Blacks over the past 8 years, he has helped them increase their stamina, strength and fitness, resulting in two back-to-back World Cups.
Ironman and Family Man
Nic isn’t an armchair activist; he likes to practice what he preaches.
In May last year he competed in the Australian Ironman, achieving a personal best of 9.48, and is currently in training for this year’s event.
He is also keen on helping spread the science side of human performance. In August 2016, two of his PhD students completed their thesis, one on Sleep & Sleep Nutrition, and the other on Strength and Power training in Adolescents.
A dedicated family man, Nic lives with his wife and two children in Tauranga. There he grows avocados, and in November picked around 35,000!
Why Nic supports Olivado
Being an avocado farmer himself, Nic knows what it takes to produce delicious, high-quality, organic avocados.
And of course it’s not just about taste. He likes to put Olivado Extra Virgin Avocado Oil in smoothies and on salads because of the high monounsaturated fat content. This is perfect for great health and awesome for performance – especially when it comes to sports fitness and training.
Dr Gill is happy to recommend Olivado because of the goodness within our oils.
Grown in New Zealand, or sourced from the best international ingredients, our Extra Virgin Oils retain all of their natural goodness and taste with minimal processing.
The Olivado Natural range is produced with low heat and without chemicals resulting in stable, neutral and natural oils to provide a goodness guarantee.
