Olivado in New Zealand

The Olivado story began at the very beginning of the 21st century, in Kerikeri in the beautiful Bay of Islands near the top of New Zealand’s North Island.

An innovative team, comprising a former chef, a legal brain, a marketing whiz, an internationally renowned food scientist, and an international investor, working together with scientists at Massey University, New Zealand’s premier Food Science University, pioneered and perfected the process of oil extraction from the avocado.

The New Zealand factory processes mainly Hass avocados grown in the central and northern parts of the North Island, where the temperate climate produces fruit of exceptional quality for oil processing.

Kerikeri, home to Olivado's New Zealand production plant, is also known as Te Kohanga, or Cradle of the Nation. Kerikeri is one of New Zealand's oldest settlements, where Maori welcomed missionaries in 1819 to establish a Church Mission Settlement. This established the framework for New Zealand's multi-cultural society. Kerikeri is both a beautiful place in the Bay of Islands, and New Zealand's most historic site of national importance.

New Zealand's oldest house, Kemp House (1821-22) and the world reknowned Stone Store (1832-36) are maintained on behalf of the people of New Zealand by the New Zealand Historic Places Trust.
