Olivado News » Top Kiwi Chef Peter Gordon Gets UK Hooked On Olivado Avocado Oil
Kiwis used to pine for Vegemite when they went on their Big OE to Britain and often sent home for supplies. Now they're doing it with Olivado Avocado Oil. And the latest to send for his supplies from home is top Kiwi chef Peter Gordon, who is co-owner with Anna Hansen of gourmet London restaurant, The Providores.
Peter stumbled across Olivado Avocado Oil during a visit home to record a TV programme on Food of the South Pacific and was immediately hooked, using it as an ingredient in one of the meals he prepared on screen.
Back in London, he and Anna decided they wanted diners at their swank restaurant to experience Olivado Avocado Oil as well. Olivado Avocado Oil was still some months from being introduced to Britain, so Peter organised his own personal supplies with Olivado.
"I think it's a great oil, I love the taste, I love the colour and I'm delighted to see a New Zealand company coming up with such an inventive product," says Peter. "I want to introduce it to my customers here in London and I'm already experimenting with a simple salad dressing and a few recipes."
Among the Olivado Avocado Oil recipes he has devised is a desert called 'Peter Gordon's Olivado Upside Down Cake'. It's his version of the traditional upside down pear and polenta cake, with Olivado Avocado Oil providing a distinctive green tinge to the cake as well as enhancing the flavour.
Peter has already demonstrated the uses of Olivado Avocado Oil on a recent BBC food programme and he believes British consumers will enjoy the new oil as much as he does now that it is available in UK supermarkets and food stores, such as Waitrose and Sainsburys.
